Kenya
Lake Nakuru combines rhino country, woodland and a Rift Valley lake in one park. Choose it for a varied wildlife stop rather than an expectation of a pink shoreline: the birds and water conditions on your dates matter more than a familiar photograph.

Lake Naivasha is a freshwater Rift Valley lake and wetland. It works best as a contrasting stop between vehicle safaris, but a lake visit, a boat trip and a visit to nearby Hell’s Gate are different activities and need to be named separately in your itinerary.

Hell’s Gate is a volcanic Rift Valley park known for cliffs, geothermal scenery and permitted active excursions. Hiking or cycling here requires a current route and safety briefing; the availability of these activities is not evidence that the park is free of dangerous wildlife.

Mount Kenya includes forested slopes and alpine terrain, but a visit to the Mount Kenya area is not automatically a summit trek. Read the exact route: a caves excursion, a lodge stay and an ascent to Point Lenana involve very different days.

Tsavo East is a semi-arid park of plains, scrub, volcanic terrain and the Galana River. It offers a different route geography from the Mara and northern parks, with Voi, Bachuma and Sala approaches relevant to different starting points.

Tsavo West combines lava formations, hills, savanna and spring-fed pools. The scenery is a major part of the experience, and the choice of gate and lodge strongly affects how it fits with Amboseli or the Nairobi–Mombasa corridor.
